Who's that?
Pinkt0nic is a Pacfic Northwest based painter most commonly recognized by her neon color palette and penchant for commentary. Equipped with an art degree from Pitzer, she photo edited for Rolling Stone and Outside magazines; visual curating evolved into a photo styling career in Los Angeles and Hawaii.
‘…[I] paint with vibrant colors and metallics in response to grey days and world negativity; animals with emotion, hyperreal botanicals, neon Asian characters, and not so random words…a painterly approach to discussing global issues.’
She resides in an undisclosed location with her cat Ruby.
Process
All paintings are hand stretched on kiln dried supports; the surface is gessoed and sanded 2 - 3 times for paint application.
Sketchbooks are often sources for design ideas; daily sketching provides composition which can be cropped or modified to best effect. For me, crop is essential to solid design. My preferred medium is acrylic; occasionally use spray paints or pastels, though adherence to acrylic is an archival goal.
I paint with a modern palette; neutrals splashed or detailed with brights. Neutrals provide a foundational context and contrast for neons and metallics.
Figurative or abstract; sometimes both present in the same painting. One informs the other.
